Welcome to The Roost at Bowersyke

A beautiful retreat in a quiet setting with spectacular views

We offer a special holiday for couples and individuals to experience the space and peace of this lovely part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Even in the peak summer season we are in a peaceful spot, well away from the crowds but still within easy reach of the Dales and Lakes. We are completely flexible on arrival dates for guests who prefer to avoid travelling on busy weekends, and are happy to accommodate shorter breaks.

The Roost is an attractive recently-refurbished property created out of the 18th Century barn next to our home, just off a quiet country lane.

It is completely self-contained with its own access, parking and private garden, set within our fields and woodland.

We are less than 10 minutes from the M6, but our setting is peaceful, rural and timeless.

Wherever you look there are spectacular views across the Lune Valley, to the Howgill Fells and beyond. After dusk, too, we have amazing night skies with fantastic displays of thousands of stars.

We have miles of footpaths and quiet lanes for walking and cycling literally from our gate, and we are only a few minutes of gentle walking from the Dales Way.

For guests who want to explore the wider area the Lake District is a half hour’s drive away, and the Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach. Our local town of Sedbergh, with a range of shops and places to eat, is 3 miles away.

We aim to make a holiday at The Roost a time of quiet relaxation and connection with the landscape, a welcoming place to recharge and enjoy exploring this ‘hidden gem’ between the Lakes and the Dales.

Please read on to see more of what we offer, then we hope you will get in touch to arrange your stay.
