Dark Skies
The Roost’s magnificent views don’t just take the breath away during the day.
After dusk too we often enjoy the most amazing night skies, with thousands of stars to be seen with stunning depth and clarity.
There is no outside light close to the cottage and very little in the wider area, so guests can enjoy remarkable views in various directions from several outdoor seating areas around the cottage and in the woodland.
We provide rugs, flasks, torches and guides to the night sky, and guests can enjoy the sights whenever the mood takes them before returning to the warmth of the cottage.
We are accredited as a Dark Sky Friendly Business by the Yorkshire Dales National Park, assuring you of the quality of what we offer.
Both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks run a Dark Skies Festival, usually in February-March and November respectively, with plenty of great events to enjoy. More information is at: www.DarkSkiesNationalParks.org.uk.
Our night sky is spectacular at any time of year – weather permitting, of course! – but especially over the autumn and winter when The Roost is at its most cosy and welcoming.
